yin yoga

Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of an object. Yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect of an object. These two aspects always coexist~there is never one without the other.

Excersises that create a gentle traction of the connective tissue are yin. As important it is for our physical and mental well being to be strong, it is not the muscular strength that gives us the feeling of ease and lightness in the body, it is the flexibility in our joints.

If we never bend our knees and stretch our spines, the connective tissue is going to shorten to accommodate our movements. If we want to maintain our joints flexibility, we must exercise them. But we should not exercise them like muscles, we must exercise them in a yin way.

~Paul Grilley

In Yin, the muscles must be relaxed.  We use gravity and props, comfy bolsters and blankets so you can settle into the first edge. And then be still. Postures are held from 3-12 minutes. This is not a restorative yoga class.

Yin Yoga at the Barn in Mariemont

every wednesday at 7 pm

Each 60-minute session weaves gentle, long-held Yin postures with deep breathwork and a restorative guided meditation at the end. Every week explores a different theme—such as surrender, self-love, acceptance, or transforming suffering—inviting reflection, renewal, and emotional release. All are welcome!

Breath, Brew & Begin: Mat & Mug for the New Moon

Every New Moon

Breath, Brew & Begin: Mat & Mug for the New Moon is a monthly ritual held at 7 pm, on the night of the new moon at The Cauldron Café in Covington, KY.  Each gathering is lovingly aligned with the unique personality of the new moon, featuring a specially crafted tea blend created just for us by the café. We’ll begin with a long, juicy yin yoga practice and intentional meditation designed to soften the body, quiet the mind, and open space for new beginnings. Afterward, we’ll sip our custom brew, journal with intention, and share in gentle community reflection—an evening of stillness, warmth, and conscious beginnings under the dark moon.

Registration for this class is in the Calendar/Registration tab.
